Greek cuisine is a typical Mediterranean cuisine. One of the main characteristics is the wide use of olive oil, lemon juice, vegetables and herbs, grains and bread, wine, fresh fish and local meats which make it's recipes special. Other important ingredients are olives, cheese and yogurt, eggplant and zucchini.

Mezés is the name for a variety of small dishes (the Greek version of the Spanish tapas or the Italian antipasti) which are served together with wine, tsiouro or ouzo. 

There are plenty of sweets and desserts where local ingredients such as nuts, honey, mastich and fruits are key ingredients.
